Amita Dand

Amita Dand is a self-taught artist from Hubli, India, who transitioned from a corporate engineering career to a full-time creative practice in 2010.Her work is defined by an intuitive, experimental approach, specializing in contemporary abstract landscapes and her signature water lily motifs.With a global presence, her paintings are held in private collections across more than 15 countries, including India, Europe, and the United States.

Biography

Amita Dand is a self-taught artist based in Hubli, India. Although her professional journey began in engineering and the corporate sector, her lifelong desire to pursue art as a means of personal fulfillment eventually led her to transition into a full-time creative career in 2010.

With no formal art education, Amita’s practice is rooted in continuous experimentation and tinkering. Her process is deeply intuitive, characterized by free-flowing brushstrokes, abstract compositions, and an intimate connection with the canvas. She believes that art exceeds the boundaries of language, allowing for a unique form of communication between the creator and the viewer.

Her work frequently draws inspiration from nature—specifically water lilies, lotuses, and floral landscapes—subjects she has been fond of since childhood. Today, her artworks have garnered international recognition and are held in private collections across:
