Our Commitment to Authenticity

Every artwork showcased on RASACANVAS is curated with care and is represented as an original work of art. We collaborate directly with artists, curators, and trusted partners to ensure that each piece offered for sale is authentic and lawfully represented.

Before listing an artwork, we take reasonable steps to verify:

  • The identity of the artist or authorized representative
  • The originality of the artwork
  • The right of the artist or curator to sell the artwork

Certificate of Authenticity

Where applicable, artworks are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (COA).

A Certificate of Authenticity typically includes:

  • Artist name
  • Title of the artwork
  • Medium and dimensions
  • Year of creation
  • Artist or authorized signature

The certificate serves as a formal declaration of authorship and originality. In cases where artworks are presented through curators or collections, authenticity is guaranteed based on documented artist confirmation.

Understanding Provenance

Provenance refers to the documented history of ownership and origin of an artwork.

Depending on the artwork, provenance may include:

  • Direct acquisition from the artist
  • Studio records
  • Gallery or exhibition history
  • Prior ownership (where applicable)

Not all artworks will have extensive historical provenance, especially contemporary works acquired directly from the artist. This is common and does not affect the authenticity of the artwork.

Artist-Signed Works

Where indicated, artworks may be signed by the artist. Signatures may appear:

  • On the front or reverse of the artwork
  • On the frame or base (for sculptures)
  • On accompanying documentation

Details regarding signatures and certificates are mentioned on the artwork’s product page whenever applicable.

Originality & Artistic Variations

Original artworks are often handcrafted and may display:

  • Subtle variations in texture, tone, or surface
  • Natural characteristics of materials used
  • Minor differences from photographic representations

These qualities are inherent to original art and should not be considered defects.

Limited Editions & Unique Works

Unless explicitly stated otherwise:

  • Artworks sold on RASACANVAS are one-of-a-kind originals
  • Limited edition works, if any, are clearly labeled with edition details

Any reproduction, print, or editioned work is disclosed transparently.

Our Role as a Curated Gallery

RASACANVAS operates as a curated art gallery, not an open marketplace.
This means:

  • We do not accept mass listings
  • Each artist or collection is reviewed before onboarding
  • Authenticity and ethical representation are central to our curation process

For resale artworks, authenticity is verified based on ownership documents, certificates, and artist records where applicable.

In the Rare Event of a Dispute

If any concern regarding authenticity or provenance is raised:

  • The artwork will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
  • Relevant documentation will be examined
  • Appropriate action will be taken in line with our policies and applicable law

We take such matters seriously and aim to resolve them fairly and transparently.
