Born 1978, Balurghat, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal, India, Nityam Singha Roy is an artist whose optimistic temperament and bohemian spirit are vividly expressed through his work. His paintings emerge as a medium of deep introspection, through which he explores life’s fundamental questions and reflects on his own existence using color, line, form, and symbolic language.
Blending creativity with philosophical inquiry, his practice examines the interconnectedness of animals, humans, time, nature, technology, love, freedom, and transcendence. Guided by the belief that “where words are silent, art speaks,” his work forms a bridge between inner consciousness and the external world.
Influenced by cubism, his acrylic paintings demonstrate a strong command over space, light, and shadow. Through tonal gradation, geometric structuring, and layered compositions, he creates depth and volume, often evoking a contemplative atmosphere. His approach adapts cubist principles into a distinct personal vocabulary, balancing traditional influences with a contemporary sensibility.
Nityam Singha Roy has exhibited widely in India and internationally, including participation in the New York Art Fair and the Edinburgh Art Fair, UK. Alongside numerous solo exhibitions across India, his works are part of collections in both national and international contexts. Through his evolving practice, he continues to invite viewers to engage with layered meanings and the transcendent dimensions of life.
